Life has a way of leading us to the edge of steep cliffs. In moments of uncertainty, we often find ourselves facing circumstances that feel overwhelming, unpredictable, and beyond our control.
Yet, as believers, our foundation remains unmoved.
“Through Christ, you have come to trust in God. And you have placed your faith and hope in God because he raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory.”
— 1 Peter 1:21
When fear and uncertainty try to take root, where do we place our trust? Too often, we look to temporary fixes. Human instinct pushes us to rely on our own strength, financial security, or personal planning to regain control.
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.”
— Psalm 20:7
Jesus understood that the human soul’s default condition in a fallen world is anxiety. He addressed this directly, challenging us to look past our immediate worries and fix our eyes on the One who holds all things together.
“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?”
— Matthew 6:25–26
The answer to our fears is rarely found in frantically trying to fix every detail of the things we worry about. Instead, the true remedy is shifting our gaze back to God.
Why do we struggle with anxiety and find it hard to trust Him? Frequently, it comes down to perspective; we simply are not seeing things correctly.
In Matthew 6, Jesus reminds us that freedom from anxiety is rooted in recognizing the unchanging character of our Heavenly Father. If God faithfully cares for the rest of His creation, like the birds and flowers that were not even created in His image, how much more deeply will He care for you? Our ability to trust God ultimately comes down to our ability to see Him clearly.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
When we stop leaning on our own limited perspective, fear loses its grip. When the storms of life roar, we have an unwavering source of refuge.
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”
— Psalm 56:3
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
— Isaiah 26:3
When your trust is rooted in the Almighty, you become unshakeable. The world around you may shift, but your foundation remains firm.
“Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever.”
— Psalm 125:1
So, take heart as you navigate the heights and valleys of life. You can say with confidence: “God, I trust You. As I leap, sometimes stumbling along the cliffs of life, You are my anchor and my only hope. I can step forward with ease, knowing that Your strong arms of love will surround me. My destiny is secure because my faith rests in You.”
“Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
— Psalm 37:3–4
Stay anchored in God and trust His perfect timing. Even when the path ahead seems uncertain, rest patiently in the knowledge that the God who holds the universe is faithfully holding you.
